City hike
at Cap de Nice and Mont Boron

Starting at the harbour

A nice day in February we made a walk from Nice harbour via Cap de Nice, climbing Mont Boron and coming back. We met at the endstation of the Tram at Port Lympia and walked on the east side of the harbour admiring the small colourful fishing boats. At the end just before the Corsica ferry quai, we took the stairs at the left and then walked along the Boulevard Franck Pilatte.
We passed Plage de la Reserve and Le Club Nautique de Nice, and the spectacular restaurant  Le Plongeoir and luxury restaurant La Reserve de Nice.

Following the coastal path to Cap the Nice

Then there is a part with cliffs where people take a sunbath and have a picnic and soon after we took the stairs down to the coastal path Cap de Nice. At the end we found the stairs to go back up to the road. You have to climb 254 stairs so we took a break to admire the view and some amazing villas.

The Englishman’s castle

At the cross road Avenue Princess Grace we admired the Englishman’s castle. It’s built in 1858 by Robert Smith in an exotic style which was typical at this time representing the craziness of life at the French Riviera.
The castle is today rebuilt as residential apartments and can not be visited.

Mont Boron

We crossed the road and took the street Boulevard de Mont Boron and to the right on avenue Ernestine.
Following the walking tags we took the steps to the left taking us on a simple forest path going up through the trees up to Route forestiere du Mont Boron.
We made a tour around the ruins of the fort and admired the stunning view over Cap Ferrat. We continued the same road crossed twice the Corniche
André de Joly to the stairs of Chemin du fort Thaon, which took us down to Parc Castel des deux Rois.
Then taking to the left until Place
Max Barel where we turned left on Boulevard Lech Walesa which took us back to Port Lympia.

The hike is about 6 km with a height difference of 200m and it took us about 2 hours on a slow path.
