St. TROPEZ

This little fishing village developed after the Second WW into an international jet set seaside resort and is mostly known by the french actress Brigitte Bardot.
It has only 4600 inhabitants but 80000 visitors/day during summer month.
It’s situated about 112 km west of Nice, but it takes 2 hours by car because of heavy traffic on the narrow roads from the highway.  It’s also possible to go there by boat from Nice during the summer month. It takes 2,5 hours in each direction and it is a full day excursion. Or take the train to Frejus and then a bus.

La Renaissance Saint-Tropez

15 Place des Lices, Saint-Tropez

A Tropezian spirit, reasonable prices and Mediterranean food.
We had one todays special and marinated salmon with a glass of rose. It was good, but not extraordinary.

I like – the huge plane trees on the terrasse

Cafe Senequier

29 Quai Jean Jaurès, Saint-Tropez

This red terrasse with a great view over the harbour is frequented from early morning to late in the night. It’s been there since 1887 and was the favorite place of Brigitte Bardot.

La Tarte Tropézienne

This famous pastry from St. Tropez is made from a sweet brioche, garnished with a mixture of vanilla cream and buttercream, topped with caster sugar. You can buy it in different shops or taste it at the cafe.

La Grande Bastide

761 Chem. des Picholines, Châteauneuf-Grasse

40 min. drive from Nice centre, this golf course is beatifully situated at the foot of the village Chateauneuf de Grasse. The course is well keept all year long.
It’s not too physical, you do it in less than 4h. But still fun and diversified. The greens are often higher than the fairway which makes it difficult to roll on and needs a perfect pitch. Very good and clear signs where to go for the next hole. Greenfee 44-85 euros. Ladies day on Mondays.
Ambiance and service – nice but
Quality and maintenance – nice
Price/quality -nice
Nice to play – very nice

I like – I’ve done Hole in One at hole 13

St. Donat

270 Route de Cannes, Grasse

Situated between Cannes and Grasse and about 40 min. drive from the centre of Nice. Nice diversified landscape. Holes 11 to 15 are going up and down and are rather challenging. It is well maintained even during tough weather conditions. It’s a busy course so count on close to 4h30 to make the 18 holes. The restaurant has a sunny and nice terrasse with a view over hole 9 and 10 and the lake.

Greenfee 72 euros if booking online (85 euros full price).

I like – the cute little palm tree indicating the 135 metres to the green.
