Skiing in Auron

Great skiing

I went to Auron for a 2 days stay. We took the “bus 100% neige” from Nice in the morning and arrived at Auron around 10 am. After leaving our luggage at Hotel Edelweiss just in front of the cabin lift, we went to Sport 2000 where we had pre-booked the ski equipment.

Even though it hasn’t been snowing for many weeks, the artificial snow in the slopes was great and most of the red and blue slopes were open. The first day we skied mainly in the Las Donnas area. We had lunch at the sunny terrace of Le Blanchon.

Nice evening and beautiful morning

After the ski we had planned to take a relaxing swim in the new pool and spa house, but exceptionally it was closed that day.

The hotel was ok, even though quite responsive between the rooms. We had half a pension, and had a nice dinner there in the evening. On the menu: salad with warm cheese and duck leg.

The breakfast was very good with both French bread, boiled egg, yogurt etc.

The next day we woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the mountains.

Best lunch

The second day we discovered the Chalvet area and I liked that very much. There we had a very good lunch at a self in the slope called La Buttiere. I chose my favorite, a Tartiflette with reblochon.

We took the bus back to Nice at 5 pm, arriving around 7.

This trip was beginning of February, before school holidays and on weekdays, so it was not very crowded.

It was a great break with friends and the weather was fantastic.
