EZE village

One of the most beautiful villages on the Riviera

Eze village is probably the most beautiful medieval village on the French Riviera. It’s situated 14 km east from Nice, at a hilltop at 429 m above sea level. We came by car but it is also possible to take a bus from Nice.
The mountain landscape with steep cliffs has impressed many personalities. George Sand and Frederic Nietzsche have found inspiration here. In the 50’s and the 60’ many TV series and movies have been shooted in this environment. Famous personalities from sports and show-business have lived here e.g. Alain Delon & Romy Schneider and Bono from U2.

Local art and handicraft

We walked from the parking lot through the village and admired the narrow alleys with old stone walls. We stepped into a gallery, an art shop, a jewelry shop and more small shops selling local food and artwork.
At a small square we met Michel, a Danish painter who has been living many years in Eze.
We admired the old fountain with water in the center of the village.

The exotic garden

At the top of the hill, we arrived at the adorable Exotic garden. It was built at the place of a medieval castle that was demolished in 1706. It costs 6 euro to enter the garden, but it is absolutely worth it. There are many different plants to admire, and many sculptures of women.

But you almost don’t see this because you are enchanted by the unforgettable view of the Cote d’Azur.
